When we invest a significant amount of money into buying our first property, we tend to overlook a part of the building that is incredibly important. We spend a lot of money on making the property look nice, and we add things such as new windows and doors, to help increase its value. While this is a wise financial move, we seem to neglect the very thing that is holding the whole property together. I am, of course, talking about the roof, and many people assume that because they can’t see it from the road, then it must be working fine. However, in a lot of cases, this is not the situation.
Luckily, there are a number of domestic and commercial roofing companies in Perth, that can come out to your property and provide you with many required and necessary building services. The roof of your property should be checked at least once a year, and also after every particularly strong storm. They can provide a number of services with regards to your roof, and we will explore just a few of them here today.
- The guttering – Your building will have guttering installed in order to collect the water that runs off your roof, and then travels down into the pipes below. This stops the area around your building becoming flooded, but this guttering gets clogged up on a frequent basis. Leaves, twigs, and even dead animals, can get caught in there, and all of this needs to be cleaned out. This is a service that your local roofing contractor can provide for you.
- Leakages – Your roof might currently have some small leaks that haven’t come to your attention. However, if left unchecked, these small leaks could turn into much larger ones, and once that happens, it could end up costing you thousands of dollars to get it repaired. Whilst your roofer is up on the roof, they can check for small holes or cracks, and replace tiles or roofing strips, quite easily, before they become a major problem.
- Algae and moss build up – This is a frequent occurrence on most roofs, and if you don’t get your roof checked on a yearly basis, then these can build up, and so your roof is unable to do its job properly. Rainwater cannot drain away effectively, and the moisture is retained on the roof which will cause problems. Your local roofing company can use a pressure wash to remove all of this.
